Patna: The family members of an 18-year-old boy complained against doctors of Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for medical negligence in his treatment.
The family members alleged that the doctors applied a plaster on the boy’s leg which didn’t have fracture.
Complainant Halima Khatun, the mother of victim Mohammed Arif, shared her complaint with ETV Bharat on Tuesday. In the plaint she alleged alleged that her son was admitted to PMCH for treatment as Arif's leg was critically injured in a road mishap.
Patna boy's leg amputated, kin alleges 'medical negligence' "When I reached the PMCH with my son, someone at the hospital rushed him to the orthopaedic department, where a junior doctor plastered his leg without treatment," she said.
"After some days his pain increased and I rushed him to the same hospital again where doctors found that the infection has spread too much in the leg. In such a situation, doctors advised that it is necessary to amputate his leg from below the knee to save his life," she said.
"My husband is a mental patient and now I need money for father-son duos' treatment. Here doctors are constantly pressurizing me to discharge my son though he has not recovered completely," Khatun lamented.
The hospital superintendent Dr. Vimal Karkar denied the allegations and said he will investigate the incident.
