No electricity, bodies lying everywhere: Patient at Bihar COVID hospital

Patients at Patna's NMCH, a COVID-19 dedicated hospital, complained about the lack of proper facilities, and the gross mismanagement at the hospital. They complained of dead bodies being left among patients and the absence of power supply.

Patna (Bihar): Bihar's Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) is a picture of appalling negligence, as patients complained about the mismanagement at the COVID-19 dedicated facility.

According to reports, there has been no electricity at the hospital for the past two days, and a few COVID-19 patients have reportedly died due to lack of oxygen.

"There is no electricity here. There are dead bodies lying around everywhere. It is a very bad situation," a patient at the hospital said.

Meanwhile, the family members of the patients too complained about the poor facilities.

"There are no proper arrangements. Patients are not being looked after. They are just making us run around the hospital," said the family member of a patient.

Earlier this month, family members of COVID-19 patients complained of unattended bodies of at least 19 deceased in the wards of the NMCH, which reportedly led to the unavailability of beds in the hospital for patients waiting to get treated.

Meanwhile, Bihar's COVID-19 death toll has climbed to 249, with 17 new fatalities being reported on July 26.

The total caseload has risen to 38,919 with 2,605 fresh instances of the disease reported in a day, a Health department bulletin said.
