New Delhi:Reiterating the Janata Dal United leaders pitch for Nitish Kumar as 'PM material,' another party MP Sunil Kumar Pintu said if people in other states wish for Bihar-model development, then regard Nitish Kumar as leader of the nation, vote for him and make him Prime Minister. "It does not mean that we are parting ways with National Democratic Alliance, we are part of it and will remain so," he said.

"Our party is now part of the NDA alliance in Bihar. It should be noted that JDU is not allied with BJP in other states. So we want to expand our footprint to other states and contest elections alone," said Pintu.

"CM Nitish Kumar's work is being lauded widely. Notably, Central government is replicating its policies in different sectors including ‘Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal Yojana', cycles distribution to school going girls. Other states are also accepting those policies and implementing them. So, Nitish is truly a 'PM material,' added Pintu.

Meanwhile, JDU parliamentary board chairman Upendra Kushwaha has been relentlessly pitching Nitish Kumar for PM post. “One-and-half months ago, I had said that Nitish ji is suitable for PM position and I am reiterating the same again. We have no intention to tease anyone but if anybody is feeling bad, let them do so. I cannot help it. Nitish ji has all the qualities and vision to lead the country,” Kuswaha said in Patna on August 30.

Another JDU MLA from Bhagalpur Gopal Mandal had said earlier that Nitish has all the calibre and capability to lead the nation as Prime Minister. Mandal also said that Nitish is a skilled leader and can even run the country with ease. “Even present PM Modi is very good but our leader Nitish is also not less than him. He has all the capabilities to become Prime Minister,” Mandal said.

However, when reporters had asked Nitish at his weekly Janata Durbar about being the PM candidate, he categorically denied the ambition and said, “Why should I be (read PM face). I have no such ambition. I am happy while serving the people of Bihar.” The next Lok Sabha election is scheduled for 2024.
