Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar attended the meeting of Chief Ministers of Naxal-affected states called by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday to take stock of the current situation as well as to discuss future road map for security and development issues.
Nitish Kumar said, "talks held on the current situation of Naxal affected areas in Bihar. Naxal activities have been reduced. We are working vigorously in this direction and it will be completely eradicated from the state soon,"
Speaking on the caste census CM added, "We want caste census to be done by the Central government but the Centre stated in Supreme Court that is not feasible. However, we are waiting for Apex Court's decision on this issue. The caste enumeration will help government to devise schemes for the poor and backward sections of society. And also caste census will also disclose the exact figures in each community. Hence, caste census is more of a necessity than choice."
He further added that if the Central government is reluctant and Supreme Court's decision does not come in our favour, then all the parties of Bihar will sit together to find a way out for head count of castes in the state.
