Narkatia:Sitting BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal from West Champaran Parliamentary Constituency alleged an attack by protesters gathered at booth no-162 and 63. 

He further alleged "the protesters tried to kill him."

Polling staff injured in accidental firing in Shivhar

Polling staff injured in accidental firing in Shivhar

Shivhar: A polling staff was injured in an accidental firing by a security personnel in Shivhar during the ongoing sixth phase polling Bihar. 

The incident took place on booth number 275 in Madhavpur Sundar village under Dumri Katsari area. A teacher, Shivendra Kumar, was deployed as a polling officer at the booth.

He, along with other poll officials, was involved in poll preparations when he sustained a bullet injury due to the recklessness of a homeguard deployed at the booth. He has been admitted to a hospital and is undergoing treatment. 

It is said that the homeguard was cleaning his rifle when the accidental firing took place. Police have launched a probe into the matter. 

Besides, other poll officials are conducting the voting at the booth. Bihar's chief election officer HR Srinivas informed that the misfire by the homegaurd was purely a mistake and unintentional. His rifle has been seized and a probe is underway.

LS Polls Phase 6: Voter turnout recorded at 59.38% in Bihar

Patna: Polling has begun in eight seats of Bihar at 7 am on Sunday in the sixth phase. The constituencies undergoing polling are Valmiki Nagar, Paschim Champaran, Purvi Champaran, Sheohar, Vaishali, Gopalganj, Siwan and Maharajganj. 

A total of 13,973 polling booths have been set-up. 

In the 2014 general elections, all the eight seats were won by the NDA, out of which 7 went into BJP's platter and the remaining one seat was won by the LJP.
