LJP will perform well if contests on 143 seats, says MP Chandan Singh

New Delhi:Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) MP Chandan Singh on Saturday claimed that if their party contests on 143 seats, it will perform very well in the upcoming Assembly elections since the party has a great foothold in Bihar.

Singh added that LJP has already decided the candidates who will fight it out for 143 seats and these members have also gathered 25,000 party supporters.

Fielding president and Jamui MP Chirag Paswan as their Chief Minister (CM) candidate, Singh said that every LJP member feels that the former has all the abilities to become an able CM.

"All the decisions related to upcoming polls including the strategy will be decided by Chirag. However, if the party would reconcile with Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) is still undecided," Singh said.

The National Democratic Alliance alliance (NDA) member Chirag wants his party to contest on 43 seats and after also wants to emphasize on his 'Bihar First, Bihari First' campaign to be included in the manifesto.

From the Governor's quota, 12 Legislative Councilors are to be nominated in the Legislative Council, in which Chirag also wants the LJP to get 2 seats. However, JD(U) is not ready for the terms. On the flip side, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has turned out as strong supporters of LJP.

According to sources, LJP may leave NDA and contest on 143 Assembly seats giving a candidate against JDU on each seat. Ram Vilas Paswan may continue as the Union Minister.

At the same time, LJP's strong leader Suraj Bhan Singh said that at least LJP should get 36 seats in NDA in Bihar, JDU and BJP have sitting MLAs in 123 seats.

He said that out of the remaining 120 seats, LJP got 20 seats of choice, after this, the party should be given 16 seats out of the remaining 100 seats.
