Large number of biomedical waste found inside hospital premises in Patna

Patna:A large amount of biomedical waste has been found at a district hospital in Bihar's Patna on Saturday.

The matter came into light when ETV Bharat inspected the district hospital which lies under Gardanibagh area limits. The place is also designated for covid vaccine storage.

When the team of ETV Bharat inspected the place, it has found a large number of disposable masks, gloves, syringe, cannulas and other medical waste behind the building. It is worth noting that people reach here in order to administer the anti-covid vaccine.

The team has also fined a large number of medicines dumped at the building premises. When ETV Bharat tried to contact the concerned civil surgeon, the hospital staff informed that 'madam is busy in a video conference.

The development comes in the midst of the second wave of the pandemic when the state is grappling with the deadly virus.

Not only the cities and towns, but rural Bihar too is in the grip of COVID-19. The people allege there are no facilities for the treatment of COVID-19 patients in the area.

According to official data, there are 89,564 active COVID-19 cases in Bihar and the cumulative cases in the state have mounted to 5,44,445.
