Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad's estranged daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai, who accused the family of domestic violence, Friday joined the Bihar assembly election campaign to pitch for Lalu's rival, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Lalu's daughter-in-law Aishwarya holds roadshow against her in-laws Aishwarya Rai, did a roadshow in Parsa (Saran), seeking votes in favour of her father Chandrika Rai. She appealed to the people to vote for the injustice done to her.
Aishwarya, whose divorce from Lalu's eldest son Tej Pratap Yadav is currently pending in court, comes from a political family. She is the daughter of veteran MLA Chandrika Rai, who is the son of former Bihar Chief Minister Daroga Prasad Rai. Chandrika Rai was a member of the RJD but switched to the JDU this year as the families' relationship soured over the bitter divorce battle.

Chandrika Rai, fighting for the Parsa seat this time around also sees Chhotela Rai in the fray after he went the other way swapping the JDU for the RJD. Eight other candidates are also contesting but the winner, barring a truly unexpected turn of events, is likely to be one of the two Rai.
The son of Daroga Prasad Rai, a Congress leader and former Chief Minister, Chandrika Rai won the Parsa seat five times between 1985 and the February 2005 polls, which yielded a fractured verdict. He was edged out in repeat polls held months later, the JDU's Chhote Lal Rai won by fewer than 5,000 votes.
The Parsa constituency votes in the second phase of Bihar elections - on November 3. The result will be declared on November 10.
