India, Nepal hold talks on vexed border issue in Motihari

Following the formation of the new government in Nepal, officials of both countries have started talks for mutual reconciliation. A meeting of the Indo-Nepal Border District Coordination Committee was held in the auditorium of Radhakrishnan Bhavan, located in Motihari. The agenda of the meeting was Indo-Nepal border security.

Motihari (Bihar):Following the formation of the new government in Nepal, the officials of both countries have started talks for mutual reconciliation. A meeting of the Indo-Nepal Border District Coordination Committee was held in the auditorium of Radhakrishnan Bhavan, located in Motihari. The agenda of the meeting was Indo-Nepal border security.

The meeting was chaired by Motihari DM, Shirsat Kapil Ashok. The main agenda of this meeting was the encroachment of No Man's Land along with several other security issues. Both sides have mutually agreed to remove the encroachments at 10 places in the No Man's Land around Banjariya, Auraiya Ishnath Municipality, and Pillar No. 347, built by India.

Issues of smuggling, movement of criminals and maintaining the peace on the border were discussed in detail. Some complicated issues between the two countries were also discussed. In addition to regular bilateral communication and exchange of information, it was also mutually agreed to promote civic education for the citizens of the border areas.

In the meeting, DM Shirsat Kapil Ashok and SP Naveen Chandra Jha of East Champaran district, represented India while Rautahat Chief District Officer Indra Dev Yadav, Rautahat SP Siddhi Vikram Saha, were present on behalf of the Nepal government.

In Nepal, Sher Bahadur Deuba has been appointed Prime Minister of Nepal, replacing KP Sharma Oli. Significantly, with the intervention of the Nepal Supreme Court, the Parliament was restored in Nepal. Following that Sher Bahadur Deuba became the Prime Minister for the fifth consecutive time on July 12 and got the support of 165 members in the 275-member house.

Prior to this, Deuba has served as the Prime Minister of Nepal from 1995 to 1997, 2001 to 2002, 2004 to 2005 and 2017 to 2018. Deuba will remain in this post for the next one and a half years, before the national elections.
