New Delhi: Assuring all possible help to the flood-affected people in Bihar, the BJP on Monday said the funds would be released on the basis of the assessment of the state government and not on a political party quoting a figure.

Interacting with the ETV Bharat here, BJP national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain took a jibe at Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) for demanding Rs 10,000-12,000 crore relief fund immediately from the centre, saying the amount that is to be allotted would be decided on the report given by the state government.

He said the government was aware of the problems faced by the people in Bihar.

"The flood situation worsens in the state due to torrential rains in Nepal. It's a matter of concern. The development activities done in Bihar are washed away in floodwaters every year," he said.

Commenting on the controversial statement of Samajwadi party MP Azam Khan in the Lok Sabha, he said: "Even if he apologies twice, the people of the country won't forgive him for his comment."

Around 84 lakh people are affected by the flood in Bihar and the death toll has mounted to 127. 1In total, 13 districts have been severely affected due to rising water levels in rivers following torrential rains.
