Gopalganj (Bihar): The release of water from Nepal continued to worsen the flood situation continued in Bihar's Gopalganj district, with 25,000 thousand people being affected.

A high alert has been sounded in the district, as water in the Gandak river is flowing eight metres above the danger mark. Over the past five days, the water levels have been rapidly rising in the river, with water being continuously released from the Valmikinagar Gandak Barrage in Nepal.
25,000 people in 52 villages affected
25,000 people affected in Bihar's Gopalganj With the fast discharge of water, as many as 52 villages in six blocks of the district are inundated. Around 25,000 people residing in these villages are said to be affected.

With low-lying regions reeling under floods, a few villagers were seen packing up their belongings and moving to safer locations. However, a majority of people have been left stranded amidst the rising waters.
People stranded without food
With water flooding into their homes, villagers are facing severe problems, as all their food-grains, and important belonging are getting damaged due to the water. To make matters worse, the villagers have not received any help from the government so far.
"Water has entered our houses. Our entire stock of rice has been damaged. We now have to find a way to survive," said Pappu Yadav, a villager.
"We have nothing to eat. The village head just asks us to move elsewhere," rued Satan, another distressed villager.
According to reports, the flood situation rapidly worsened after 3,39,000 cusecs of water was released from the Valmikinagar Barrage on Tuesday morning.
Apart from Kuchaikote, Barauli, Goaplganj, and Baikunthpur, many other several other villages in the district are reeling under severe floods
