Gopalganj (Bihar): Amid the extremely severe flood situation in Bihar, an ETV Bharat reporter in Gopalganj district carried a child to safety by wading through chest-high water.
The flood situation is grave in Vishunpura Kothi village in Buchia Panchayat of Sidhwalia block, about 50 km from the district headquarters. The entire village has been inundated, and people have to wade through chest-high water to get in or out of the village.
In order to get the ground situation, ETV Bharat reporter Atal Bihari Pandey crossed the floodwaters to get into the village. One has to cross through flood waters spread across over four kilometres to reach the village.
Meanwhile, the reporter's eyes fell on a villager who was struggling to carry his two children on his back. He then took one of the children and carried him on his back till the family's house.
There are about 100 to 150 houses in Vishunpura village. As they are unable to cross the chest-high water, older people and children are forced to stay in their flooded homes and wait for the waters to subside.
