Delhi: CM Nitish to meet Kharge, Kejriwal today, to discuss opposition unity

A day after attending Karnataka Congress Cabinet's swearing-in in Bengaluru, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar landed in Delhi and is expected to meet national opposition leaders as part of his mission to bring together the country's opposition to take on the BJP in 2024 general elections. Nitish will meet Kejriwal, Mallikarjuna Kharge and other leaders today, sources said.

Patna/New Delhi: After continuously touring different states recently, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar once again reached Delhi to meet the leaders of various opposition parties. Reports say that Nitish Kumar will meet Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other big leaders today to brainstorm on opposition unity.

The proposed meeting of the opposition parties in Patna will also be discussed during Nitish's visit today, where its date will be decided. On Saturday, at the swearing-in function of the Congress government in Karnataka, an attempt was made to show opposition unity with many national leaders present on one stage.

Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi Yadav, Hemant Soren, Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, Stalin, Sitaram Yechury, D Raja, Sharad Pawar, TMC (Trinamool Congress) and Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) leaders were present at Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's swearing-in.

However, West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee and UP former CM Akhilesh Yadav stayed away from it. At the same time, Arvind Kejriwal, K Chandrasekhar Rao, Mayawati and Naveen Patnaik were not invited. In fact, ever since Nitish Kumar broke away from the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) and formed the Grand Alliance government, he has been continuously trying to form a strong front against the BJP.

In this sequence, Nitish also visited Delhi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Bhubaneswar, Mumbai and Ranchi. During these visits, Nitish Kumar met Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Sitaram Yechury, D Raja, Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, Naveen Patnaik, Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar and Hemant Soren. Bihar CM's meeting with most of the leaders has been positive, party leaders said.
