New Delhi: Lok Janshakti Party president Chirag Paswan on Friday accused Nitish Kumar of failing to provide ration cards to many individuals due to which 14.5 lakh people of Bihar are unable to get ration benefits provided by the centre, a source said.

Paswan further added that the Bihar government has not taken any constructive action in this regard despite centre's repeated request. He informed that the central government earlier this month asked states to send details of persons who don't have a ration card and unsurprisingly 14.5 lakh people turned out from Bihar.

Reportedly, people facing financial distress because of the nationwide lockdown are unable to get ration benefits because of not possessing a ration card.

Paswan's reaction came after his father and union minister Ram Vilas Paswan, appealed states to provide ration cards to poor people of society so that they can benefit the ration assistance provided by the central government under National Food Security Act.

However, Chirag Paswan expressed confidence stating that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will surely take measures in this regard.
