Central Govt must postpone JEE, NEET exams: Mohammad Jawed

Congress' Mohammad Jawed has expressed fear on the centre being adamant on holding examinations of JEE and NEET, saying not many students would be able to appear as COVID19 and floods would be major problems for them. He urged the government to postpone the same.

New Delhi: Congress MP from Bihar Mohammad Jawed has urged the central government to postpone the competitive examinations of JEE and NEET, saying not all students are equipped to appear for the same.

Speaking to ETV Bharat here, Jawed said over 70 thousand people are testing positive for coronavirus on a daily basis and holding examinations in situations like this could be dangerous.

Giving an example of his home state, the Congress leader said that it's a big state and it has only two centres for the aforementioned exams.

He asked how students from villages would be able to reach their examination centre when there are flood and coronavirus spreading.

"The government must postpone the exams," he said.

The Kishunganj MP said that the BJP led government is anti-poor and anti-students. It has proved it beyond any doubt.

Meanwhile, Congress has been protesting against the central government's decision to hold the exams in September.
