New Delhi:One year ahead of 2020 Assembly elections, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) suffered a major setback in the by-election with his party managing to retain just one of the four seats.

The by-poll results in five assembly seats in Bihar have sent alarm bells ringing for the NDA alliance, and particularly for the JD (U).

The JD (U), which contested four seats, lost three.

Its only victory came in the Nathnagar seat while the BJP’s experiment with minority voters of Kishanganj failed yet again. Even the seat which JDU had was won by RJD.

Pointing out at JD(U), senior BJP leader Rameshwar Chaurasia while speaking to ETV Bharat said that the performance of NDA in the by-polls was not good.

Rameshwar Chaurasia while attacking Nitish Kumar said, 'Bihar government's inept' handling of the Bihar floods has led to skirmishes between the alliance partners.

He further said, "Nitish Kumar should take responsibility for the defeat in the Bihar by-polls as Cheif Minister. PM Narendra Modi is solving the problem of the nation, and Nitish Kumar couldn't even solve Bihar flood issues."

"People are angry with him due to his carelessness during Bihar floods", he added.

Chaurasia said that the NDA's defeat in the by-election is a matter of concern and should be churned as Bihar assembly elections are due next year.

When asked whether the Bihar Assembly election 2020 will be BJP-JD(U) alliance, to which he said that it's on Union Minister Amit Shah and PM Modi to decide.
