Indian Army takes control of Bihta ESIC Hospital

The ESIC Hospital at Bihta has been handed over to the Indian Army for management. This decision came in the light of the Patna High Court's direction that if the current hospital staffs can't take care of the hospital, it should be handed over to the Army.

From today onwards, Indian Army health personnel will treat infected patients in this hospital. Right now around 100 patients are undergoing treatment. Preparations are also going to increase the number of beds. A team of 80 members of Indian Army Medical personnel reached Patna late on Thursday and has started taking control of this hospital.

The Army team consists of 25 specialist doctors, other para-medical and nursing staff. A team of army officers are also constantly inspecting this hospital. A 200-bed hospital will be started here in the next 2 days. After that, according to the situation, this number can be increased to 500 beds.

Covid cases in Bihar is continuously rising. There is a shortage of beds in government hospitals. People are not getting oxygen cylinders and essential medicines. In such a situation, the army has now taken over the hospital in Bihar's capital.
