Bihar public bus services resume operations

Both private and state-run bus companies began services across Bihar on Tuesday, but there was no word on services to other states from Bihar.

Patna:Private and government-operated bus services resumed operations in Bihar on Tuesday after they were suspended in mid-July to control the spread of the coronavirus.

Authorities did not say whether buses will be operated to other states as well from Bihar.

Transport authorities issued a notification Monday after a decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the government's Crisis Management Group which was chaired by Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar and attended by Transport Secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal and senior officials.

But the lockdown in the state has been further extended till September 6.

The Transport Secretary has directed all District Magistrates and Senior Superintendents and Superintendents of Police to ensure the smooth running of public transport systems in the state.

"Except containment zones, buses and all types of public transport will operate following the rules of one seat, one person," Agarwal said.

Every passenger, driver, conductor and other crew members will wear a mask and follow social distancing norms.
