Steep fall in Covid cases in Bihar, says JDU leader

Welcoming the Covid lockdown extention in Bihar, JDU National Spokesperson KC Tyagi said that the state government is running a massive vaccination drive to contain the spread of the infection.

New Delhi:JDU Chief General Secretary KC Tyagi on Monday welcomed the Bihar government's decision to extend the Covid lockdown.

He stated that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has taken the decision in the interest of the people of Bihar to contain the spread of Covid infection.

The JDU National Spokesperson said that following the decision, cases of Covid are witnessing a steep decline across the state and people are also happy with the state government's efforts.

"The vaccination drive is being run on a large scale at a very fast pace to cover the entire population of the state," he asserted.

He also appreciated the Bihar government's move to provide an ex-gratia to the families of the deceased who lost their lives to coronavirus.

Covid lockdown in Bihar, which was imposed on May 5, has been extended for seven more days till June 8.

All the essential services will continue with additional relaxations being given to businesses.

Stores providing agricultural materials and hardware will remain open.

In the past 24 hours, 1,475 Covid positive cases were reported in Bihar and 4,130 people were cured.

The recovery rate in the state is 96.67 per cent while the infection rate is 1.46 per cent.

So far 18,377 Covid patients have been treated.

Nearly 52 people in Bihar have lost their lives to Covid in the last 24 hours while 1,00,494 samples were tested.

The next of kin of the deceased will receive Rs 4 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
