The floodwaters are creating havoc by destroying river embankments. The rising water level of Gandak river has created immense pressure on the Champaran embankment resulting in its breach up to a height of 150 feet near Bhawanipur in Sangrampur block. Due to the heavy water flow, it has become difficult to repair the broken part as well. The water of Gandak river has submerged many villages in Areraj, Sangrampur, Kotwa and Kesariya blocks.

Community kitchens have been established as well as dry food packets are being distributed among the flood victims," Motihari DM Shirsat Kapil Ashok said.

Eight teams of NDRF have been deployed in Sangrampur.
