Bihar villagers forced to settle on rooftop of their huts as floods wreak havoc

Locals in Mangalpur Kala village of Bihar's Champaran district have started living on the roof of their huts in a bid to guard their belongings inside their submerged houses. The entire village has turned into an island and the people are waiting for the administration to provide them with flood-relief materials so that they may combat the adverse situations.

Champaran (Bihar):As the incessant rains resulted in heavy flood-like situations in Bihar, normal lives have been thrown out of gear. People of Mangalpur Kala village are now forced to settle on the rooftop of their huts as the village is completely submerged into water.

Situated in Nautan block which is located 25 kilometres from Bettiah district headquarters, Mangalpur Kala village has become an island.

Many villagers have migrated in search of safer pastures. Only a few are left behind hoping for some relief from the administration while guarding their belongings inside their houses.

The entire region has been transformed into a lake many of their household items have been washed away by the flood-waters.

Villagers have alleged that none of the district administration officials has turned up to see their plight and ask about their well-being since the past six days.

They have been deprived of with the necessities of food, medicines, drinking water and shelter under the flood-relief measures.

Women and children have been shifted to roadside tents while the men have settled themselves at the top of their huts to save whatever is left behind after facing the havoc of flood across the state.
