Bihar elections: Endless theory to sideline former DGP Pandey

Political experts claimed that Parshuram Chaturvedi got the golden opportunity in this election. Chaturvedi, who had contested elections in 2015, lost the battle due to 'Mahagathbandhan'. Some insiders from the party claimed that the scuffle between Chaubey and Sushil Modi clears the way for Chaturvedi.

Patna: Bihar's former DGP Gupteshwar Pandey, who was tipped to contest the October-November Assembly election on a Janata Dal-United ticket, does not figure in the list of 115 candidates released by the state's ruling party.

According to JD-U insiders, he could be the star campaigner of the party in the polls especially in Buxar, Bhojpur, Tirhut, Begusarai, Jahanabad, Arwal and other places where he was posted as a police officer for a long time.

JD-U is feeling the heat now since an AIIMS report hinted at suicide in the mysterious death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. It could be the reason why Pandey was denied a poll ticket.

Another theory doing the rounds is that the BJP did not want to give up the Buxar seat, where it enjoys strong influence, especially among the upper castes. Besides, Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey is the sitting BJP MP from Buxar.

Even the top JD-U leadership was feeling the heat over his inclusion in the party.

However, some political experts also claimed that Parshuram Chaturvedi got the golden opportunity in this election. Chaturvedi, who had contested elections in 2015 election, lost the battle due to 'Mahagathbandhan'. Some insiders from the party claimed that the scuffle between Chaubey and Sushil Modi clears the way for Chaturvedi.

Pandey had earlier claimed that he has the potential to contest election from more than 25 constituencies in Bihar.
