Villagers thrash man to death in Assam

A man allegedly involved in the stealing and selling of livestock was beaten to death by the villagers after he was caught stealing a pig, in Tihu in Assam's Nalbari district.

Nalbari:A man was beaten to death by the villagers of Tihu in Assam's Nalbari district on Sunday.

The deceased identified as Mrigen Kalita was allegedly involved in the stealing and selling of livestock in the village.

The villagers had filed a complaint against him but the police did not take any action.

On Sunday, when few residents caught him stealing a pig, they started thrashing him.

The Tihu police soon intervened and took the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
