Road accidents in Assam while travelling to appear before the authority for the NRC re-verification process The hearing centres are 300-400 km away from the district headquarters and the people have to travel from lower Assam to upper Assam for the NRC re-verification
Earlier, the Supreme Court directed that the hearing should be organised in the districts itself. The directions made in the notices are framed as per NRC state coordinator Hajela’s report to the Supreme Court.
Hajela had mentioned it in the report that 27% re-verification has already been done in response to the state and Centre’s demand for 20% re-verification in border districts and other districts having unusual population growth.
