Tripura all set to host first-ever Brazil Cultural festival

The festival will be organised in collaboration with the Brazilian embassy in India in an attempt to exchange social, cultural and linguistic values and also to showcase Tripura's folk culture in the international arena.

Agartala (Tripura):In an ambitious move, Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) is all set to host the first-ever Brazil Cultural Festival in November. The festival will be organised in collaboration with the Brazilian embassy in India in an attempt to exchange social, cultural and linguistic values and also to showcase Tripura's folk culture in the international arena.

Kamal Kaloi, Executive Member of TTAADC for Animal Husbandry Department, made this announcement shortly after a delegation of the TTAADC members met the Brazilian Ambassador to India with an aim to begin fresh ties with the country and solicit technical guidance on various aspects.

Addressing the 12th Foundation Day ceremony of Tripura Tribal Folk Music College at Khumulwng, Kaloi said, “ The prime motive of organising the festival is the exchange of cultural values.”

He also informed the gathering that very soon folk music centres would be opened in all the 33 sub-zonal areas and people who have been associated with cultural activities would be coaxed into the centres forming a cultural advisory committee.

During the function, Chief Executive Member TTAADC Purna Chandra Jamatia said, “Our new council under the able guidance of royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarman is putting every effort to ensure that our culture can be promoted worldwide. Recently, we met Brazilian and Israeli envoys to India for cultural exchange programmes”.
