Guwahati:The NRC authority has made all the necessary preparations for the final list of the National Register of Citizens (NRC), which is scheduled to be published on August 31.
The security of the state has been tightened and security arrangements are being reviewed by the Guwahati City Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar.
Guwahati City Police Comissioner Deepak Kumar in conversation with ETV Bharat Along with the NRC head office, paramedical forces will be present at 78 NRC centers as well.
According to the Home Ministry, the state has enough security resources to combat any form of setback.
The cybercrime team of Assam police will also be monitoring social media to check for any provoking post.
The NRC update is the result of agitation in the state that pivoted on the demand to drive out people who had entered Assam illegally.
The process of updating NRC is being carried out by the Registrar General of India and the entire process is under the direct monitoring of the Supreme Court.
