Mahanta too ready to milk Citizenship amendment bill

New Delhi: It appears as if politicians from Assam are not willing to miss an opportunity to milk the politics in Citizenship Amendment Bill. After Akhil Gogoi former Chief Minister of Assam and a signatory to historic Assam accord Prafulla Kumar Mahanta on Monday said that all opposition parties and some alliance partners of the BJP are determined to oppose Citizenship amendment bill.

Mahanta whose party AGP was once a close ally of the BJP said,"They are planning to meet President Ramnath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh to register their opposition against the bill."

While speaking exclusively to ETV Bharat, Mahanta said that ,"they have already intimated their intention to the government and determined that we will oppose the Citizenship amendment bill as it violates the provisions and constitution of historic Assam Accord."

He also added that if this bill is passed, the indeginious people in Assam will come to minority and same incident took place in Tripura.

According to sources, Mahanta will conjure up the support of other political leaders as well.
