Guwahati:Even as the world celebrated Eid-ul-Adha on Monday, as many as 2,816 people lodged in 11 relief camps set up at Chirang, Morigaon, Nagaon and Jorhat districts of Assam haven't been able to enjoy this festival.
Although the overall flood situation in the northeastern state showed considerable improvement since last week, a population of 88,000 residing across 10 of the 33 districts continue to remain affected by the deluge.
Forced to live in cramped spaces and not much to eat, this Eid did not bring as much joy for the flood relief camp inmates.
"Most of the relief camps have been set up within schools, and the schools have been closed for due to floods. But, we have heard that the schools will reopen on 15th, where will these people go after the school reopens?, " asked a resident of Nagaon district.
