Guwahati:An encounter broke out in Nagaland's Mon District between Assam Rifles ULFA(I) and NSCN(K) at Sheinlaishw Village at the wee hours of Sunday.

A team of 50 member insurgents opened fire at a ROP of 40 Assam Rifles D Coy.

The insurgents were led by Commander Nayan Medhi of ULFA(I) and Commander Nyumlung of NSCN(K). Assam Rifles retaliated with swift moves and the insurgents managed to flee away.

Army and Assam Rifles cordoned the area and search operations are underway.
