Assam: Athlete Hima Das secured the first rank in Assam's Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSLC) examination, which was announced on Saturday 25th May. When asked about Hema's results, her father Ranjit Das said, "We are very happy - despite the training, she secured first class."
She scored a total of 349 marks out of 500 in the HS final exam.
Hima’s teachers had sent all the books and study materials to her so that she can prepare for her HS exam without any hassles in her athletic training.
A month before the exams, Hima was training in Turkey. "She had started preparing for her exam, said Ranjit.
Hima, who is undergoing training at Patiala for the upcoming Olympics, came to her home to appear for her HS final examinations in February. “Even we had suggested that she should sit for the exams after the Olympics 2020, but Hima wanted to do it now itself. She told me, ‘If I don’t do it now, it will just keep getting delayed. And education is important’, says her Guwahati coach, Nabajit Malakar.
