Assam: Woman volunteers to breastfeed needy newborns

Ronita Krishna Sharma, the mother of a two-month-old baby, said she can breastfeed needy infants in Guwahati where she is currently residing.

Guwahati (Assam): As the COVID-19 is taking an ugly turn across the globe, a woman has stepped in to breastfeed the newborns who had either lost their mothers due to the virus or are deprived of the feeding as their mothers are struggling with the deadly virus.

Ronita Krishna Sharma, the mother of a two-month-old baby, said she can breastfeed needy infants in Guwahati where she is currently residing.

"Only for guwahati as I live here. If any new born needs breast milk I’m here to help. This is the least I can do at this time #COVIDSecondWaveInIndia #india #CovidSOS #CovidIndia (sic)", Ronita tweeted a few days ago.

"Also if any new born needs breast milk I am here to help in Guwahati only, as I am here, reading about lot of babies turning positive or passing away so do let me know if anybody needs it (sic)," read her tweet.

A Talent Manager based in Mumbai, Ronita arrived at her house in Assam after giving birth on March 10. She did not return to Mumbai as the situation turned worst there.

"This is the least I can do at this time," said Ronita.

She has appealed to more women to join the cause.
