Guwahati:Assam government will soon seek the intervention of the Supreme Court for the protection of Inner-line Forest Reserve from destruction and encroachment. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said this on Tuesday while condemning the attack on Assam police personnel at Assam Mizoram border on Monday which had left six people including five Police Personnel dead and 42 others injured.
The Chief Minister rushed to Silchar on Tuesday amid Assam-Mizoram border row and said that the state would not spare even an inch of its land to Mizoram. He added that the government has decided to deploy three commando battalions in Cachar, Karimgaj and Hailakandi districts bordering Mizoram to keep the border situation under control.
Sarma has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 50 lakh to the next of the kin of each deceased and a government job to one of the family members of the deceased. He also announced to give an additional one month salary to the police personnel deployed along the Assam-Mizoram border.
