Assam: Indian Medical Association's team arrives in Jorhat

A team of the Indian Medical Association reached Jorhat on Tuesday to establish a conversation with the doctors of Jorhat Doctor's Club who are agitating against the mob lynching of a senior doctor. Dr Deben Dutta was lynched at Jorhat's Teok Tea Estate on September 1.

Jorhat(Assam): In the context of Assam doctors agitating against the mob lynching of a senior doctor, a team of the Indian Medical Association(IMA) reached Jorhat on Tuesday.

Senior doctor Deben Dutta was lynched on September 1 at Jorhat's Teok Tea Estate.

The team that arrived in Assam comprised of IMA's General Secretary Dr RN Tandon and Finance Secretary Dr Ramesh Dutta accompanied by the State Committee chairman Dr Satyajit Bora and Secretary Dr Hemanga Baishya.

They held a meeting with the agitating doctors Jorhat Doctor's Club.

The doctors have asked for stern actions to be taken against the culprits who were involved with the incident that led to the death of Dr Deben Dutta.

They have also demanded a fastrack trial from the government in this case.

The state government has been asked for apt security to the doctors of the state so that no such incidents occur in the future.
