Guwahati:At a time when the Assam-Mizoram border is on turmoil, two women officers are manning the troubled region on the Assam side. Assam government has deputed Ramandeep Kaur as the Superintendent of Police and Kirti Jali as the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar district which borders Kolasib district in Mizoram, to maintain law and order along the state border.
The state government's step comes as a preventive measure after the violence broke out between the police and civilians of both states on July 26 leading to the death of six Assam police personnel and a civilian.
Although there is no report of any fresh violence, tension simmers along the Assam-Mizoram border.
