Assam: Drug dealer's property worth Rs 10 Cr seized along with 9 kg heroin

In a joint operation, the Assam Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) seized Rs 10 Cr worth property of drug dealer Emade Uddin. More than 9 kg heroin worth Rs 40 Cr along with immovable property was seized in this raid.

Karimganj (Assam) : This is the first time that a drug peddler's property has been seized in Assam. Karimganj police have seized a huge amount of property belonging to a drug dealer named Emad Uddin. The seized property is over Rs 10 crore. The seizure also includes several items like land, huge buildings, and drinking water factories.

It may be recalled that heroin worth about Rs 40 crore was seized from a drug dealer named Emade Uddin in a joint operation by the Karimganj police and the Border Security Force (BSF) on October 10, 2022. It was the largest successful operation against drugs in the history of Assam and North East India.

The quantity of the seized heroin was more than 9 kg. Drugs were seized from inside a cement-loaded truck which was coming from Mizoram on Nilga bypass in Karimganj town. It came to light that the drugs were smuggled by Emade Uddin. This was found out in a raid conducted by the police. A week after the drugs were seized, the Karimganj police managed to detain Emade Uddin.

The trial process was subsequently continued with the arrest of Emade Uddin and finally, the properties of Emade Uddin were seized on Thursday on the orders of the central excise department. It is to be noted that Assam Police are continuing a massive drive against drugs. Border areas like Karimganj and Karbi Anglong have been used as drug trafficking corridors by smugglers.

The Police have kept a close vigil on the movement of suspicious persons. The seizure of the property of the drug dealer is sent as a warning to all those who try to amass ill-gotten wealth by illegal means.
