Six illegal migrants from Bangladesh held in Assam

Assam government has ordered the arrest of six Bangladesh citizens for illegally living in Assam. The state shares a 263 km border along Karimganj district with Bangladesh's Sylhet district.

Kokrajhar(Assam): Six persons who were declared Bangladeshis living illegally in Assam were arrested in Kokrajhar district on Tuesday.

The Foreigners Tribunal declared these six, including three women, illegal migrants from Bangladesh. The declarations were made for some in 2006 and for others in 2011 but they were all absconding.

DSP Border of Kokrajhar, Sorab Ali, said they were apprehended by a police task force from Gossaigaon sub-division of the district.
