Woman injured in acid attack in Visakhapatnam

A woman suffered 40 per cent burns after an unidentified woman poured acid on her in Visakhapatnam's Gajuwaka on Wednesday evening. The victim is currently undergoing treatment.

Visakhapatnam (AP): A woman from Hyderabad received severe burn injuries after an unidentified woman threw acid on here in Visakhapatnam's Gajuwaka on Wednesday evening.

According to reports, the victim, identified as Sirisha, who resides in Hyderabad, arrived in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday to attend a function.

The incident took place on Samatha Nagar Road when the victim was on her way to the function. An unidentified woman poured acid on Sirisha and managed to flee from the spot.

The victim was rushed to a private hospital in the region, where she is currently undergoing treatment. She reportedly suffered 40 per cent burns in the attack.

Meanwhile, police have registered an FIR over the incident and further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
