8 Bangladeshi nationals nabbed for entering India illegally

Andhra Pradesh RPF arrested eight Bangladeshi nationals at Visakhapatnam for entering India illegally. Police have also seized fake documents from their possession.

Vijayawada: Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Andhra Pradesh arrested eight Bangladeshi nationals on Friday for illegally entering India. Out of them, four were arrested at Rajahmundry while they were travelling in Howrah-Chennai Central special train whereas the rest were arrested at Vijayawada, while they were onboard Amravati Express from Howrah to Andhra Pradesh. Police have also seized fake documents, including forged Aadhaar Cards, PAN cards and voter ID cards with a Bengaluru address printed from them, from their possession.

Few of them have been identified as Kareem Khan, Sheikh Saddam, Mohammed Ali Amin and Mohammed Shakayat Hussein. A case has been registered and National Investigating Agency (NIA) along with Intelligence Bureau officers are questioning them. According to reports, they are working as daily wage earners in Bangladesh and came to Goa via Howrah from Bangladesh. Vijayawada ACP Shanu Sheikh informed that they stayed in Goa from 2017 to 2019 but returned to Bangladesh after the Covid pandemic hit India.

"On June 30, 2021, the eight accused left Bangladesh for Goa. The four Bangladeshi nationals who were travelling from Amravati Express were detained after they failed to provide their valid documents," Shanu Sheikh said. "The other four on Howrah-Chennai Central special train were arrested after they clashed with passengers over seat reservation. The passengers complained about them on the railway helpline and RPF police held them in Rajahmundry. During interrogation, it was revealed that they have entered India illegally," she added.
