East Godavari (Andhra Pradesh): A month after the alleged custodial death of father-son, Jayaraj and Benix, in Tamil Nadu, a fresh case of police brutality has surfaced from Andhra Pradesh's East Godavari district where a scheduled caste youth, Varaprasad, was allegedly thrashed by Sitanagaram police who then tonsured his hair and moustaches.
According to the reports, a violent clash broke out after the youth hindered the path of a truck carrying illegal sand. The moment he tried to stop the vehicle, the driver, who is also a follower of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) local leader Kavala Krishnamurthy, contacted him and narrated the whole scenario.
Following which, the YCP leader lodged a complaint against the youth in Sitanagaram police station.
