Visakhapatnam:Police on Tuesday arrested a man for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl in June 26, 2015. Tirupathi Rao, who was then working as a teacher in a school in Chodavaram, Visakhapatnam, had allegedly lured Koyyana, studying in Class VIII and kidnapped her on June 26, 2015.
After kidnapping Koyyana, he took her to several states. He first took her to Delhi and then Rajasthan. From there he went to Haryana and then shifted to Nizamabad in Telangana. Finally, he along with the girl settled in Jogighatta, Rajasthan.
Addressing the media, Anakapalle DSP K Shravani said, "based on the instructions from Superintendent of Police B. Krishna Rao, to resolve all pending cases, this case was investigated for about two months and finally the accused along with the victim were traced to Alwar in Rajasthan. Tirupathi Rao was brought from Alwar to Visakhapatnam on a transit warrant on Tuesday".
After getting to know that the accused was in Alwar, a special team was formed with Chodavaram Circle Inspector Ilyas Mohammed, Sub-Inspector Attada Vibhishana Rao and three head constables. The special team nabbed the accused and rescued the victim on October 3 and Tirupathi Rao was brought to Visakhapatnam on October 4.
"The accused was produced before the judge of Chodavaram court on Tuesday and was remanded to judicial custody. After six years, the victim is now the mother of two children aged around five and three years, a girl and a boy respectively," said Shravani.
The victim's parents continued their hunt for their child and lodged a missing complaint in the nearest police station in June, 2015. In 2016, CI Murali Rao was also transferred for allegedly not taking necessary action in the case. Later in 2017, victim's father complained to the top officials and the case was handed over to the CBCID. He also approached the High Court due to delay in the investigation.
"We can't express our joy of getting our child back after six-years. We almost gave up our hope. We thought that the kidnapper might have done something to her. Right now, she is unable to say anything. We will proceed the case depending on the details given my daughter," said victim's father.
CI Ilias Mohammad said, "case has been registered against Tirupathi Rao under relevant sections of IPC and also under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The further investigation will be conducted basing on the girl's statement."
