Lightning kills two women in Machilipatnam

Two women were killed due to the lightning strike in Machilipatnam on Wednesday, police said. The district was lashed by heavy rains as water entered in low-lying areas in Krishna district.

Machilipatnam (AP): Two women were killed due to a lightning strike in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday.

Sharif Unnissa (47) of Pedana town, while grazing her cattle, was hit by lightning and had died instantly.

In a separate incident, P Bharathi (58) of Mallaya Chittooru village of Ghantasala Mandal was sowing paddy saplings in a field when she was struck by lightning.

The district was lashed by heavy rain on Wednesday.
