Female wild elephant found dead in Chittoor

A female wild elephant, who reportedly got separated from her herd, was found dead inside Koundinya wildlife sanctuary in Andhra Pradesh. A post-mortem was conducted on the body and the veterinarians observed that animal was suffering from severe infection.

Chittoor: A female wild elephant was found dead inside the Koundinya wildlife sanctuary near Palamaner in Andhra Pradesh on Monday.

Senior forest officials from Chittoor have claimed that the elephant was suffering from a serious ailment and gradual deterioration of health was the reason for her death.

According to reports, the forest officials came across the carcass of the non-resident elephant and initially mystery shrouded over the cause of death.

Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Srinivas, along with Palmaneru Forest Range Official (FRO) Madanmohan Reddy, examined the body and revealed that it might have died in the early hours of Sunday.

Besides, a post-mortem was conducted on the body of a female elephant and the veterinarians observed that elephant was suffering from heavy infections for several years.
