CBI arrests MP Avinash Reddy's father Bhasker Reddy in Viveka murder case

CBI's Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested YSRCP MP YS Avinash Reddy's father YS Bhasker Reddy in the 2019 YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case. Avinash Reddy and Bhasker Reddy had differences with Vivekananda Reddy over the latter objecting to the candidature of Avinash Reddy for the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat in 2019 elections.

Pulivendula (Andhra Pradesh) : A key development has taken place in the murder case of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy. YSRCP MP Avinash Reddy's father Y S Bhaskar Reddy was arrested by the CBI on Sunday morning. CBI officials reached Pulivendula early on Sunday morning and went to Bhaskar Reddy's residence. After that, a memo was handed over to the family members and he was arrested.

Avinash Reddy's followers and YSRCP activists came to Bhaskar Reddy's residence in large numbers after learning about the arrival of CBI officials. After his arrest, he was shifted from Pulivendula to Hyderabad. The officials will produce him before the CBI judge by Sunday evening. In the process of moving Bhaskar Reddy from Pulivendula, Avinash's followers tried to block the vehicles of the CBI officials.

A few days ago, CBI officials arrested M P Avinash Reddy's main follower Gajjala Udaykumar Reddy in the Viveka murder case. The CBI found that Udaykumar was in Bhaskar Reddy's residence before Viveka's murder through Google Takeout. In this order, the CBI officials, who stepped up the investigation, arrested Bhaskar Reddy. First, there were reports that CBI officials went to Avinash Reddy's house in Hyderabad. But MP security personnel said that no one came there.

Bhaskar Reddy happens to be the uncle of Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the CBI stepped up the investigation after the Supreme Court last week directed it to complete the investigation by April 30. Bhaskar Reddy along with his son Avinash Reddy was earlier questioned by the CBI in the murder of YS Vivekananda Reddy at the residence of the deceased in Pulivendula in the run-up to the 2019 general elections.

Bhaskar Reddy had differences with Vivekananda Reddy over the latter opposing the candidature of his son Avinash Reddy for the Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency in 2019. Vivekananda Reddy was vehemently in favour of YS Sharmila or YS Vijayamma, sister and mother of CM Jagan respectively. There were allegations that in 2017 Bhasker Reddy and Avinash Reddy had ensured the defeat of YS Vivekananda Reddy in the MLC elections.
