B-tech student 'burnt alive' in Andhra Pradesh

Locals informed the police that a young man was found burnt alive in a suspicious condition at Thotapalli canal at Ranasthalam in Srikakulam district. The police have identified the victim and an investigation is on.

Srikakulam (AP): A B.Tech student was burnt alive at Thotapalli, Ranasthalam Mandal in Srikakulam district. Locals informed the police that a young man was found burnt alive in a suspicious condition at Thotapalli canal in Ranasthalam. Police reached the spot and identified the person as Muvvala Nagesh, a resident of Nuvvalarevu village in Vajrapukotturu Mandal. Police identified him based on the identity card found in his pocket. The victim's family was also informed of the incident.

Nagesh was a B.Tech first-year student in an engineering college in Echerla Mandal. Nagesh had joined the college on 7th of this month and had gone home for Sankranthi. He returned to the college on the 21st.

Nagesh's elder brother has alleged that his brother was murdered. He said that he called his brother on 26th of this month but someone other than his brother picked up the phone.

Srikakulam DSP Mahendra and a forensic team inspected the spot. Police are investigating the incident.

The family members have accused the college management and the police of negligence. Angered by the attitude of the college management towards the death of the student, relatives and villagers of the victim protested in front of the college.
