Andhra Pradesh: The state police force is on high alert ahead of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) week, observed by Maoists from December 2 to 8.

The PLGA Week, 2019, is significant in terms of the killing of major Maoist leaders including Nalla Adi Reddy.

The PLGA week is being organised by Maoists every year since 2001.

Officials from Munchingi Puttu, Pedabayalu, Annavaram, Chintapalle, and Salur police stations have been alerted.

The Maoists are said to create ruckus in the Andhra-Odisha Border (AOB) area of the state.

In order to thwart their plans, the security forces have beefed up security and intensified vehicle checking in the region. They are also keeping a check on RTC buses running throughout the state.

The PLGA Week is observed by Maoists every year from December 2 to 8.

The CRPF and Special Greyhound forces have been deployed in different region and they are stopping RTC services travelling to remote areas and questioning the suspected people.

On the other hand, Maoists have put up banners and flexes throughout the region to make the PLGA week a success.

The PLGA week is organised every year to reprimand the killing of Maoist leaders Seelam Naresh, Nalla Adi Reddy and Yerramreddy Santosh Reddy by security forces in the Karimnagar district in Telangana on December 2, 1999.
