13-year-old sexually abused by cousin in AP

A 13-year-old girl was sexually abused by her cousin in Machilipatnam of Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh. The Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) accompanied the minor to the police station to file a complaint. The accused has been detained for questioning.

Machilipatnam: A 13-year-old girl was allegedly sexually abused and impregnated by her cousin in Machilipatnam of Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh, police said on Wednesday.

The incident came to light on Wednesday evening after Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) CDPO S Jaya Lakshmi received information about it and accompanied the minor to the local Inaguduru police station to file a complaint.

Machilipatnam Deputy Superintendent of Police Mehboob Basha told media that the accused Mohan Kumar (21) has been detained for questioning.

In a complaint by the minor's parents, they alleged that Kumar abused and raped the victim, and threatened her family against revealing the incident.

According to the police, the minor victim was sent to the district government hospital for medical examinations and a case registered against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
