Tokyo Olympics, Day 16: Indian athletes to watch out for

All eyes will be on Neeraj Chopra to deliver India's elusive Olympic medal in athletics and end a wait of 100 years when he competes in the men's javelin throw final on Saturday.

Tokyo: On Day 16 of the Tokyo Olympics, Indian athletics' best medal hope javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra will be in action in the men's javelin throw final. Neeraj cut into the javelin throw final with his first throw 86:65m. He didn't attempt the next two throws. Meanwhile, wrestler Bajrang Punia will play for bronze in the afternoon.

Here are the Indian athletes to watch out for on Saturday:

Neeraj Chopra -Javelin throw

All eyes will be on Neeraj Chopra to deliver India's elusive Olympic medal in athletics and end a wait of 100 years when he competes in the men's javelin throw final on Saturday.

A pre-tournament medal contender, the 23-year-old Chopra fuelled the country's expectations by topping the qualification round with a stunning first-round throw of 86.59m.

Aditi Ashok - Golf

India's Aditi Ashok continued with her great form as she moved to the second spot after the third round in the women's golf competition, remaining on course for a maiden medal at the Olympic Games.

The 23-year-old Aditi ground out a 3-under 68 in the third round of the women's golf competition at Kasumigaseki Country Club to be in sole second place on 12-under 201. She was three shots behind leader and world No. 1, Nelly Korda of the United States.

On Saturday, she will be thick in the action.

Bajrang Punia - Wrestling

India's Bajrang Punia suffered a huge setback on Friday since he lost to Aliyev Haji of Azerbaijan, going down 12-5 on points in the semifinals of the 65kg freestyle wrestling. On Saturday, he will now fight for the bronze medal.
