London: The All England Lawn Tennis Club committee announced the seedings for Wimbledon 2019 which will begin on July 1. World number one Novak Djokovic and Ashleigh Barty are seeded top in the men's and women's singles, respectively.
Rafael Nadal has been seeded third despite being second in ATP rankings, due to unique seeding formula used by the grasscourt Grand Slam, which is based on the previous form on the grass.
Nadal had earlier expressed his disappointment and Djokovic had echoed his voice. Reportedly, Wimbledon is the only one of the four Grand Slam tournament not to stick rigidly to the ATP and WTA rankings.
