Osaka defeated Brady in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 to win the women's singles title at Melbourne Park for her second Australian Open crown, and fourth Grand Slam triumph overall.

Melbourne: 2021 Australian Open finalist Jennifer Brady said on Saturday that newly-crowned champion Naomi Osaka is "an inspiration to us all" and said the 23-year-old is "doing something special" within the sport of tennis.

"First, I would like to congratulate Naomi (Osaka) on (winning) another Grand Slam title. She is such an inspiration to us all and what she is doing for the game is amazing and getting the sport out there. And I hope young girls at home are watching and are inspired by what she is doing. I would also like to congratulate her team. Obviously, you guys are doing something special, pushing Naomi every day and she is only getting better, so congratulations," said Brady.

"I mean, it was special to play in front of fans in my first Grand Slam final. So, hopefully, I am standing on this stage next time with this girl over here (points to Australian Open trophy). But tonight (Saturday), it was not meant to be. And, hopefully, there is many more (finals to come for her)," she added.
