Miami (US): Swiss ace Roger Federer entered the semi-finals of Miami Open by outplaying sixth-seeded Kevin Anderson, 6-0 6-4, on Thursday.
Federer was seen playing with an attacking mindset, bringing his 'A' game to the tennis court, displaying cheeky net skills and crafty slices from side to side. This proved too much for Anderson, who was not able to replicate his 2018 Wimbledon comeback.
Federer beat Anderson to enter semis of Miami Open The Swiss only landed 38 per cent of his first serves, but he was able to defend his second serve without any problems. The Swiss tennis star easily won the first set in 26 minutes.
Later, Federer won a marathon ninth game of the final set to break Anderson for a 5-4 lead, then served it out at love.
On the other hand, Anderson, who hadn't lost a set 6-0 since October 2016 - 353 sets ago, rallied from a break down to get back on serve in the second, before Federer took control at the end.
Interestingly, Federer is 37 years old. That's the combined age of the two Canadian teens in the men's semifinals - Shapovalov, 19, will face Federer on Friday night, and the 18-year-old Felix Auger-Aliassime will meet defending Miami champion John Isner of the U.S. earlier Friday.
